Mississippi Department of Public Safety attends Touch-a-Truck
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety said on its Facebook page that it recently had a great time at a Touch-a-Truck event, thanking community members who came out to meet officers and explore vehicles used to keep Mississippi safe.
The department, which provides law enforcement, highway safety and driver licensing services across the state, used the event as a public outreach opportunity, the post said.
Touch-a-Truck gatherings are family-oriented events where children and adults can see, climb into and learn about emergency, construction and service vehicles. Organizers and participating agencies typically use the events to explain how equipment works and to promote safety and trust between residents and first responders.
Officials said the appearance allowed officers to connect with residents and to highlight the roles different vehicles play in public safety. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
