Mississippi agency urges citizens to self-report damage
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is asking residents who have not yet reported property damage to use an online form to self-report what they have experienced, the agency said in a Facebook post.
The agency said the information will help provide a clearer picture of the overall extent of damage in the state. Residents are directed to https://www.msema.org/report-damage and instructed to follow the prompts to submit their reports, the post said.
Emergency management agencies collect damage reports to compile assessments that guide response efforts and help officials prioritize resources during recovery operations. Accurate, timely reporting can help state and local authorities identify hard-hit areas and plan outreach, inspections and aid distribution.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency coordinates the state’s disaster preparedness, response and recovery activities and frequently relies on public reports to supplement field assessments. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
