MDOT urges motorists to slow down on morning roads
The Mississippi Department of Transportation said in a Facebook post that motorists should “take it slow” if they must be on the roads this morning and should follow the agency for updates.
The department, commonly known as MDOT, manages the state’s highway system, coordinates maintenance and issues travel advisories during hazardous conditions. MDOT routinely uses social media and its website to alert drivers to changing road conditions, closures and slowdowns.
Advisories like this aim to reduce crashes and delays by encouraging safer driving behavior. Drivers should allow extra travel time, reduce speed, increase following distance and be prepared for slower-than-normal traffic when conditions are poor.
Residents are encouraged to monitor MDOT’s official channels for the latest information and traffic updates, and to use caution if they are traveling. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
