Man injured in Jackson house fire on Daniel Circle

A man suffered minor burns after a house fire Wednesday morning at 641 Daniel Circle in Jackson, Chief Felton said. Fire units responded to the residence about 8:09 a.m., the chief said.

When firefighters arrived they saw smoke and flames coming from the structure and found a person standing outside, Chief Felton said. The occupant had minor burns to both hands and was transported to a local hospital; Chief Felton said he is expected to make a full recovery.

Chief Felton said investigators determined the blaze was accidental and began when combustible materials were placed too close to a heater. The chief attributed the cause to those combustibles igniting near the heat source.

Heating equipment and nearby combustibles are a common cause of residential fires, and officials regularly urge residents to keep flammable items away from heaters. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
