Man airlifted after assault outside Greenville club
GREENVILLE — Greenville police are investigating an assault early Sunday morning that left a man seriously injured and required air transport to another medical facility, authorities said.
Officers responded March 8 to the 1300 block of Highway 82 East at Rack & Cue after receiving a report of an assault, the Greenville Police Department said. When officers arrived, they spoke with a sheriff’s deputy who said the male victim had been escorted from the location earlier and was assaulted a short time later.
The victim told investigators he was attacked in the parking lot by an unknown male after leaving the club. He received initial treatment at Delta Health and was later airlifted to another medical facility for further care, police said.
Witnesses described the suspect as a Black male wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and a dark-colored sweater or hoodie. Greenville Police Chief Marcus Turner said a video of the incident is circulating on social media and investigators are asking anyone who recognizes the person of interest to come forward. Police also said there were witnesses at the scene who have not yet contacted authorities.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 662-378-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip through the P3 app. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
