Louisiana DOTD conducts bridge inspection on I-20 west near Vicksburg

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development said Wednesday it will conduct a bridge inspection on Interstate 20 westbound near Exit 1A in Vicksburg on March 25.

The department said the inspection will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will require a right lane closure near the exit to the welcome center and casinos. Motorists are urged to use caution, expect delays and allow extra travel time while traveling through the area, the department said in a Facebook post.

Bridge inspections are routine safety checks carried out by transportation agencies to assess structural condition and identify maintenance needs. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is responsible for the state’s highways, bridges and other transportation infrastructure.

The lane closure may affect traffic flow on a busy stretch of I-20 that serves local and regional travelers. Drivers should watch for signage and crews working on the roadway. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
