Local officers host Coffee with a Cop in Starkville
Local officers are inviting residents to join Coffee with a Cop on Tuesday, Feb. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at East Mississippi Lumber Company, 300 Russell Street in Starkville, organizers said in a Facebook post.
The post said the gathering will feature “no speeches, no agendas, just coffee and conversation,” and encouraged people to spend a little time getting to know the officers who serve the community.
Coffee with a Cop is a nationwide initiative that encourages informal, face-to-face conversations between members of the public and law enforcement. Organizers say such events are intended to build relationships, foster mutual understanding and provide residents an opportunity to ask questions or raise concerns in a relaxed setting.
Everyone is welcome to attend the event at the East Mississippi Lumber Company, and organizers added that “coffee tastes better with good conversation.” We will provide more information as it becomes available.
