Lee County sheriff’s office honored at Saltillo Fire Department event
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that it participated in the Saltillo Fire Department’s 2026 Fire & Friends Event, where fire department officials presented a plaque recognizing the service and sacrifice of Deputy Rick Haggard, who was killed in the line of duty in February.
Carson Miller, an outreach volunteer, and Assistant Chief Adam Miller of the Saltillo Fire Department presented the plaque to Sgt. Miller and Deputy Burgeson, the post said. The sheriff’s office said Haggard’s wife, Jana, also was recognized during the event.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office serves residents of Lee County in northeast Mississippi. Saltillo is a city within Lee County, and the Saltillo Fire Department provides emergency and community outreach services to the area. Honoring fallen officers and recognizing their families is a common way local agencies and communities express support and remember public servants who died in the line of duty.
The sheriff’s office said it is grateful for the continued support and remembrance of Deputy Haggard and his family. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
