Lee County sheriff signs MOU with ICC to launch law enforcement career program

Sheriff Jim H. Johnson said in a Facebook post that the Lee County Sheriff’s Office has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ICC to partner on the CORE Program, an initiative designed to develop a law enforcement career preparation pipeline.

The sheriff’s office said the program aims to produce highly qualified, job‑ready candidates for careers in public safety and to help cultivate individuals who will go on to serve and protect the community.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency for Lee County, Mississippi, responsible for patrol, investigations and jail operations. Agencies like the sheriff’s office commonly form partnerships with schools, training centers and community organizations to expand recruitment and training capacity.

The post did not identify details about ICC beyond its role as a partner or provide a timeline for the program’s launch. The office said it is grateful for the partnership and the opportunity to strengthen the local public safety workforce. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
