Judge sentences Pontotoc County man to 20 years for meth trafficking

PONTOTOC COUNTY, Miss. — A Pontotoc County man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to trafficking methamphetamine, the First Circuit District Attorney’s Office said Friday.

Adrian Rashad McCoy entered the guilty plea Feb. 19, 2026, after being indicted by a Pontotoc County grand jury on a charge of trafficking methamphetamine, the district attorney’s office said.

Judge Kelly Mims sentenced McCoy to 20 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, and prosecutors said he must serve the full sentence without eligibility for parole or early release.

The case was investigated by Kory Clowers, the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Department and the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, the district attorney’s office said. Assistant District Attorneys Megan French and Sidra Winter prosecuted the case.

Trafficking methamphetamine is a felony that state and local authorities frequently pursue because of the drug’s addictive nature and public-safety implications, officials say. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
