Jones urges public to report tips to Crime Stoppers
Tyree D. Jones, chief of the Jackson Police Department and sheriff of Hinds County, urged residents to report information to Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers in a Facebook post, saying public tips make the community safer.
“The safety of our community is not the responsibility of law enforcement alone. It belongs to all of us,” Jones wrote. He said every tip called in, every piece of information shared and every neighbor who speaks up helps protect families on local streets.
Jones highlighted that Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers provides an anonymous way to report information. “You do not have to give your name. You just have to care,” he said, and encouraged people to call 601-355-TIPS (8477) or visit www.p3tips.com to submit tips.
Crime Stoppers programs typically allow community members to provide information anonymously and can play a role in investigations by passing tips to law enforcement. Jones concluded by urging residents, “If you know something, say something. Together, we are stronger than crime.”
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
