Jackson Police thanks chaplains for support
The Jackson Police Department thanked its chaplains in a Facebook post, naming Bishop Thomas Jenkins and Pastor Rose Jenkins for their “faithful support through prayer, counseling, hospital visits and more,” the department said.
Police chaplains are clergy or trained volunteers who provide spiritual care, crisis intervention and counseling to officers, victims and families. Departments commonly use chaplains to offer confidential support, assist during critical incidents and help connect community members with resources.
Officials and law enforcement advocates say access to chaplains can bolster officer wellbeing and community relations by providing emotional and spiritual support outside the chain of command. The department’s public recognition highlights the role faith leaders and volunteer chaplains play in supporting both personnel and residents.
The post did not provide additional details about specific recent incidents or programs. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
