Jackson police name Captain William Kendricks officer of the year
The Jackson Police Department said in a Facebook post that it named Captain William Kendricks Officer of the Year at the 100 Club of Jackson’s annual banquet held last night.
The department said Kendricks was unable to attend the banquet because he was participating in a Bomb Technician Recertification Course in Alabama. His parents accepted the award on his behalf.
The department thanked 100 Club President Doug Boon and the organization for their steadfast support of the Jackson Police Department and first responders throughout the metropolitan area, saying that support strengthens every agency they serve. The 100 Club of Jackson is one of several local nonprofit groups that honor and assist law enforcement and emergency personnel.
Officer of the Year honors typically recognize sustained service, leadership and contributions to public safety, and departments say such awards can boost morale and public confidence. Bomb technician recertification courses are routine professional development meant to keep specialized skills current and enhance safety for officers and the public.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
