Jackson Police Department participates in Martin Luther King Jr. parade

The Jackson Police Department said on its Facebook page that it was honored to participate in a Martin Luther King Jr. parade this morning.

The department, which serves as the municipal law enforcement agency for the city of Jackson, posted the brief message along with photos on its official Facebook account. The post did not provide further details about the event, such as the route, organizers or the number of officers who attended.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday observed each year on the third Monday in January. Cities and communities across the United States commonly hold parades, memorials and service events to honor the civil rights leader and his legacy.

Police participation in such events often serves both a commemorative and community engagement purpose. Public safety agencies typically provide traffic control and crowd management while also using civic events as opportunities to strengthen ties with residents.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
