Jackson Police Department honors Byram Chief David Errington
The Jackson Police Department said in a Facebook post that it honored Chief David Errington at a Chiefs and Sheriffs Luncheon after his retirement from the Byram Police Department.
The post said Errington retired after serving five years as Byram’s top police official and 27½ years in law enforcement. It said he is moving into private industry and that he is passing the department’s leadership baton to Kevin Turner, who previously served as captain over operations.
Byram Police Department is the municipal force that serves the city of Byram, Mississippi, and the chief is responsible for overseeing day-to-day policing, public safety initiatives and department administration. Leadership transitions in local police departments can affect department priorities, staffing and community relations, making an orderly handoff important to maintain continuity.
The Jackson Police Department’s post offered congratulations to both Errington and Turner. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
