Jackson police celebrate Read Across America at Mississippi Schools for the Deaf and Blind
Precinct 4 officers from the Jackson Police Department recently celebrated Read Across America with students at the Mississippi Schools for the Deaf and Blind Lower Elementary School, the department said in a Facebook post.
The post said officers read Dr. Seuss books to students and joined in school activities for Crazy Sock Day, describing the visit as full of smiles, laughter and learning. The department thanked staff and students for welcoming them and said officers were proud to support literacy and the community.
Read Across America is a national literacy initiative that encourages children to read through school events and community partnerships. The Mississippi Schools for the Deaf and Blind provides education and services to children with hearing and visual impairments across the state.
The department’s visit underscores routine efforts by local law enforcement to build community ties through school and youth programs and to promote reading and learning. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
