Jackson officers visit ill corporal during recovery

Officers with Traffic Operations recently visited Corporal George Fields as he continues his recovery from a serious illness, the Jackson Police Department said in a Facebook post. The department posted photos of the visit and described the moment as an expression of support for a colleague.

“Moments like these remind us that the brotherhood and sisterhood of law enforcement runs deeper than the badge,” the department said. The post added that the department family is “in your corner and praying for your full recovery,” and said it looks forward to the day Fields returns to duty.

Traffic Operations is the unit within most police departments that focuses on traffic enforcement, crash investigation and roadway safety. Such units often participate in public outreach and internal support efforts to maintain morale among officers and staff.

The department’s message emphasized solidarity, saying, “Keep fighting, Corporal. We’ve got your six.” Details about Fields’ condition or expected return were not released. This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
