Jackson MDPS station reopens; Vicksburg station remains closed

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety said its Jackson station reopened at 10:04 a.m. on March 16, but its Vicksburg location remains closed.

In a post on its Facebook page, the department asked residents to be patient as systems power back on and reminded customers to schedule appointments at dps.ms.gov. The department did not provide additional details about the cause of the outage or a timeline for the Vicksburg station to reopen.

MDPS said it has more than 1,000 sworn and non‑sworn employees who work to keep Mississippians safe. The department said its staff patrol the state’s roads and highways, work to keep illegal drugs off the streets and provide training, duties that officials say are central to public safety across the state.

The reopening restores access to department services for residents who rely on in‑person appointments. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
