Jackson man arrested in Oxford after warrant issued in harassing messages case
OXFORD, Miss. — A Jackson man was arrested this week following an investigation into reported harassing text messages, the Oxford Police Department said.
Police said a walk-in report about the messages was filed on March 25. After an investigation by a department detective, authorities obtained a warrant for Aaron Anderson, 43, of Jackson, the department said.
On April 9, Anderson was transported from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office to the Lafayette County Detention Center, and he was taken before a municipal court judge for an initial bond hearing, police said. An initial bond hearing typically addresses whether a defendant will be released pending further proceedings and under what conditions.
The Oxford Police Department investigates a range of complaints including alleged electronic harassment and other forms of communication-related offenses. Such investigations can have community safety and legal implications as law enforcement and courts address complaints that originate via text messages and other digital platforms. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
