The Jackson Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency serving Mississippi’s capital city, while the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office provides law enforcement and corrections services across Hinds County. Both agencies frequently participate in community events to increase visibility, foster public trust and provide public safety during large gatherings.
St. Patrick’s Day parades are annual community events in many U.S. cities that celebrate Irish heritage and attract families, local groups and public officials. Participation by law enforcement can help manage crowds and signal community engagement, officials said in past events.
Details about the date, route and scale of this year’s parade were not provided in the social media posts. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
