Jackson detective offers safety tips at Tougaloo career fair
Detective Shivon Jordan of the Jackson Police Department covered safety tips with vendors at the Tougaloo Career Fair hosted by Sigma Gamma Rho, the department said in a Facebook post that included photos.
Tougaloo College is a historically Black college located in Jackson, Mississippi, and Sigma Gamma Rho is a national sorority that frequently organizes campus and community events, including career fairs that bring employers, students and local vendors together.
The presence of a police detective at the event highlights routine community outreach and public safety efforts aimed at keeping students, visitors and small-business vendors informed about precautions they can take while conducting business at large gatherings. Career fairs often draw substantial crowds and create opportunities for networking as well as concerns about crowd management and property security.
