Indianola Man Arrested by U.S. Marshals in Connection to February Shooting of Child and Grandmother

NDIANOLA, Miss. — A 22-year-old man wanted in connection with a February shooting that left two people seriously injured was arrested Tuesday following a fugitive investigation led by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Delvin Jones was taken into custody March 2, 2026, in Indianola. He was wanted by the Indianola Police Department on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon likely to produce death or serious bodily harm.

Authorities said the charge stems from a Feb. 12 shooting on West Percy Street in which a 46-year-old woman and her 7-year-old grandson were seriously injured after their vehicle was struck multiple times by gunfire. A 2-year-old child who was also inside the vehicle at the time was not injured.

A warrant for Jones’ arrest was issued Feb. 19. Officials said the investigation into the motive remains ongoing.

Deputy U.S. Marshals assigned to the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force tracked Jones to a residence in the 100 block of Jordan Drive. With assistance from the Indianola Police Department, law enforcement officers surrounded the home and took Jones into custody without incident.

During the arrest, authorities recovered a Glock pistol, which was seized as possible evidence.

The Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, which began operations in July 2006 following the Presidential Threat Protection Act of 2000, partners with more than 61 federal, state and local agencies across eight operational offices. Since its inception, the task force has apprehended more than 70,800 fugitives throughout the region.
