Ice remains on state roads in 10 Mississippi counties

As of 8 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, the Mississippi Department of Transportation said there are still reports of ice on roads and bridges in 10 counties across the state.

MDOT identified the counties as Benton, Bolivar, Coahoma, DeSoto, Lafayette, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Tate and Tunica. The agency noted the report covers state-maintained roadways, including interstates and state highways, and does not reflect conditions on local roads.

MDOT maintains the state’s highway network and regularly issues advisories during winter weather to help motorists plan travel and avoid hazardous conditions. Officials advise drivers to use extra caution in affected areas and to expect slick spots on bridges and shaded roadways where ice can persist.

For live road conditions, MDOT directs motorists to the MDOT Traffic app on the App Store or Google Play or to MDOTtraffic.com. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
