Hinds County Sheriff’s Office starts Citizens Academy April 6

The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office said on its Facebook page that its Citizens Academy returns April 6–13 and is inviting residents across Hinds County to participate.

The one-week course offers a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at how the sheriff’s office operates. The agency said participants will have the chance to engage directly with staff, learn how the criminal justice system works and observe the daily responsibilities, challenges and commitments of the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office urged residents who want to be informed, involved and empowered to register soon because spaces are limited. An application form is posted on the Hinds County website.

Citizens academies are commonly used by law enforcement agencies to increase public understanding of policing and to strengthen community relations. Hinds County is in central Mississippi. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
