Hinds County Sheriff joins Army PaYS program to aid soldiers’ transition

The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that it has formally signed onto the U.S. Army’s PaYS program to help Soldiers transition from military service into local careers.

The office said the partnership guarantees participating Soldiers a job interview and provides a pathway to continue serving their communities with skills learned in the Army. PaYS, commonly known as the Partnership for Youth Success, connects military personnel with civilian employers.

The sheriff’s office said recruiting mission-driven individuals is essential to the future of public safety. It said the agreement strengthens the office’s commitment to support veterans and to build a workforce with discipline and leadership developed in military service.

Hinds County is in central Mississippi and includes the state capital, Jackson. Law enforcement agencies across the country have partnered with military transition programs to address staffing needs and to offer career opportunities for veterans.
