Harrison County seeks help identifying suspects in coin machine attack

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to help identify two people who attempted to drill open a coin machine at a car wash on Highway 53 on March 5 at about 12:45 a.m., investigators said.

Authorities released surveillance images and descriptions through Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers. One person was wearing a dark blue Nike jacket, gray sweatpants, a dark face covering and dark tennis shoes. The heavier-set person wore a lighter blue hoodie, plaid pajama pants and black-and-white Adidas tennis shoes, the post said.

Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers advised anyone with information to submit tips through the P3 Tips mobile app or by calling TIPS. The organization said information must come through Crime Stoppers to qualify for a reward.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office covers the central Mississippi Gulf Coast and investigates property and public-safety crimes in the county. Law enforcement agencies say coin-operated machines can be targeted because they contain cash, making them a frequent focus of theft and burglary investigations.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
