First Circuit DA launches Operation Reload
The First Circuit District Attorney’s Office announced Operation Reload in a Facebook post, saying it is a continuation of Operation Overload. The post was signed by Jason D. Herring, district attorney for the First Circuit Court District.
The post said Operation Overload produced 793 citations, 51 illegal drug- or firearm-related charges, 23 other charges including outstanding warrants, and 16 noncitizens referred to or detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The office extended its appreciation for the collaborative efforts of multiple local, state and federal law enforcement agencies that participated in Operation Overload, the post said.
District attorney offices prosecute criminal cases within their circuits and frequently coordinate with multiple agencies when conducting targeted enforcement operations. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement handles civil immigration enforcement and may accept referrals or detain noncitizens when criminal matters are involved.
The announcement signals a continued multiagency enforcement push intended to build on the outcomes of Operation Overload, but the post did not provide further operational details. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
