Fire damages Pearl edible paper shop
PEARL — A GoFundMe fundraiser has been launched to help the owner of The Edible Paper Store & Co. recover after a fire damaged the specialty baking supply shop at 2901 Old Brandon Road and forced it to close indefinitely, organizers said.
Owner Kat Reynolds said the blaze damaged the building’s electrical system and wiring, requiring extensive repairs before the business can reopen. A description on the fundraiser page says Reynolds designs custom edible images and toppers, manages daily operations and that the fire destroyed or damaged several items she relies on to produce her products.
The GoFundMe description says, “Rebuilding is crucial not only for her business but also for the community. Every donation, big or small, helps her recover and continue to provide the sweet treats that bring joy to so many.” Reynolds said in a social media update that the storefront will remain closed during repairs but she plans to continue limited operations from home so customers can still order edible image printing and cake toppers.
Reynolds wrote, “It could have been much worse,” and thanked the Pearl Fire Department, emergency medical personnel and the Pearl Police Department for their quick response. Customers needing supplies are encouraged to contact the store by email or phone; staff will retrieve items from the shop once or twice daily while cleanup and repairs continue. Organizers say the fundraiser will help Reynolds replace critical equipment as the business searches for a possible new location. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
