Driver flees after unpaid tow, crashes into patrol cars at Yazoo correctional facility

A driver was taken into custody early Monday after fleeing deputies and crashing into two patrol vehicles on the grounds of a correctional facility in Yazoo County, according to a Facebook post.

About 3 a.m. Monday, deputies encountered a white car after a tow truck operator in Madison County said he had been called to change a tire, the post said. After the tow driver installed the tire, the driver left the scene without paying for the service, the post said.

The tow driver alerted Yazoo dispatch after the vehicle crossed into Yazoo County, and deputies quickly made contact, the post said. When officers attempted to stop the car, the driver fled. She turned onto the grounds of a correctional facility and struck two patrol vehicles while continuing to flee, the post said. The collisions disabled her vehicle and deputies took her into custody.

The Facebook post said neither deputy nor the driver was injured. The post did not identify the driver or specify any charges. Fleeing from law enforcement can carry criminal penalties; correctional facilities are secure locations that can increase the seriousness of such incidents. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
