DeSoto County DA seeks no bond for Horn Lake shooting suspect
HORN LAKE, Miss. — The DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office is asking a judge to deny bond for a 22-year-old man accused in a shooting this week at Discount Market on Goodman Road.
District Attorney Matthew Barton said prosecutors filed a petition seeking no bond for Taderius Young of Horn Lake. Young was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault and is being held at the DeSoto County Adult Detention Center.
The district attorney’s office also said Young faces an auto burglary charge in a separate case that stemmed from a secret indictment returned in February. According to the filing, the state argues Young poses a special danger to the community under Article 3, Section 29 of the Mississippi Constitution and should be held without bond.
“Young has made it abundantly clear that our community isn’t safe without him in custody,” Barton said. “That is why we are asking the court to deny his bond and keep him exactly where he belongs, behind bars.” Barton added prosecutors will pursue every legal avenue to hold violent offenders accountable. The case was investigated by the Horn Lake Police Department. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
