Debris contractors close northbound lane on Gertrude Ford

City and university debris contractors said in a Facebook post that they will clear the area along Gertrude Ford between Alumni Drive and West Jackson Avenue tomorrow, March 11. Large equipment will be used to pick up debris, and the northbound lane through the area will be shut down during the operation.

Traffic will be detoured through the Gertrude Ford Center parking lot to Depot Street for access to West Jackson Avenue, the post said. Motorists are urged to follow posted signs and directions from traffic personnel while the work is underway.

Debris-removal operations commonly require heavy machinery and temporary lane closures to ensure crews can work safely and efficiently. Such work can cause traffic delays and limited access to adjacent streets, so commuters and campus visitors should plan alternate routes if possible.

Please use extreme caution when approaching the area. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
