Crime Stoppers offers condolences to Jefferson Parish after tragedy involving deputy

Crime Stoppers said in a social media post that its “thoughts and prayers are with the people of Jefferson Parish during this sorrowful time.” The post offered “sincere condolences to the family of Deputy Christopher Paul Ohlmeyer,” as well as to members of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and responding officers who witnessed the tragedy.

Crime Stoppers is a community organization that encourages the public to submit anonymous tips to assist law enforcement and often posts messages of support after incidents affecting officers and neighborhoods. The group’s message included hashtags referencing the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, New Orleans police and the broader Louisiana community.

The post underscores how incidents involving law enforcement can ripple through local communities, prompting expressions of support from nonprofit groups and neighboring agencies. Such outreach is common after events that affect first responders, who may require support from colleagues, families and the public.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
