The City of Biloxi celebrated the retirement of Biloxi Police Chief John Miller and Biloxi Police Major Larry Murphy after 35 years of service, the city said in a Facebook post. The ceremony took place at the Donal M. Snyder Sr. Center, according to the post.
The city said their careers were defined by leadership, integrity and an unwavering commitment to protecting and serving the Biloxi community. The post added that the two officers represent a combined 70 years of service to the city.
The Biloxi Police Department provides public safety and law enforcement services for the Gulf Coast community. Leadership changes at the top of a municipal police force can affect departmental priorities, training and community relations as new leaders set direction for patrol operations and outreach efforts.
The city thanked Miller and Murphy for their devotion to the community and said their legacy will continue to inspire future generations. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
