Authorities arrest two on drug charges during Pearl River County patrol
PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss. — Two people were arrested on drug-related charges March 2 after narcotics investigators located them during a patrol on Emmett Meitzler Road, the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department said.
Investigators with the department’s Narcotics Division observed a man sitting near the intersection of Emmett Meitzler Road and Carey Meitzler Road and identified him as Jace Phelps, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant tied to the sale of narcotics as part of “Operation County Sweep,” the department said.
Phelps was taken into custody without incident. Deputies said a search turned up methamphetamine, a digital scale and marijuana in his possession.
While officers were on scene, the department said a 2011 Infiniti arrived driven by Elizabeth Levron. Deputies said Levron was also wanted in connection with Operation County Sweep on an outstanding warrant for the sale of narcotics. She was arrested and a search of her vehicle allegedly turned up methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and baggies, the department said.
Both suspects were transported to the Pearl River County Correctional Facility. Operation County Sweep is a local law enforcement effort aimed at locating individuals with outstanding warrants and disrupting narcotics sales in the county.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
