Authorities arrest Lugene Gitrell Theo Scott after warrants in Harrison County, New Orleans
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office said Friday that Lugene Gitrell Theo Scott, who had been sought for failure to register as a sex offender and was wanted on a separate New Orleans felony warrant, has been taken into custody.
Crime Stoppers of Greater New Orleans identified Scott as wanted by the New Orleans Police Department on a Jan. 12, 2026, felony warrant that lists attempted second-degree murder, possession of a firearm or carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon, and illegal use of weapons, the post said.
The charges stem from an incident that reportedly occurred Dec. 21, 2025, in the 7100 block of Crowder Boulevard in New Orleans, the post said. The sheriff’s office first announced its search for Scott on Jan. 30, 2026.
The sheriff’s office thanked the community for sharing the original post and for its support, saying public engagement helped. Failure to register as a sex offender is a serious offense that can lead to arrest and prosecution in many jurisdictions.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
