Air National Guard clears Clarksdale neighborhoods of ice and snow
The Air National Guard is clearing ice and snow in residential areas of Clarksdale, and city public works crews are following to ensure driveways are not blocked, the city said on its Facebook page.
Officials said crews are covering as much ground as possible and will remain in Clarksdale until the work is complete. The post asked residents to acknowledge the personnel working on their streets and thanked the public for its patience and cooperation.
The Air National Guard is a reserve component of the U.S. Air Force that frequently supports state and local authorities during severe weather and other emergencies. Local public works departments typically handle road maintenance and clearing to maintain access for residents and emergency vehicles.
Clearing ice and snow from residential streets and driveways helps reduce hazards and keeps neighborhoods accessible, officials said. If you see personnel working on your street, the city encouraged residents to give them a wave. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
