98th Cavalry unit praises Corinth residents for ice storm support
The Corinth Police Department said the 1st Squadron of the 98th Cavalry stopped by town to thank local residents for their support during a recent ice storm.
In a Facebook post, the department said the soldiers “had some good things to say about our town” and visited to show appreciation to Police Chief Tucker and his wife, Kate, as well as Russell and Julia Smith for their support and consideration of the soldiers who were in Corinth helping during the storm.
Military units sometimes assist local authorities during severe weather by supporting emergency operations, logistics and community welfare efforts. The department did not elaborate on specific duties performed by the soldiers, but the post emphasized community cooperation between residents, police and the visiting troops.
The recognition highlights local acts of support that can bolster morale for service members and first responders during emergency responses. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
