Lee County deputy recovers meth after traffic stop in Auburn

Lee County deputies attempted a traffic stop in Auburn on December 28, 2025, but the vehicle did not initially stop and continued at high speed, according to Sheriff Jim H. Johnson.

Before the vehicle stopped, the driver threw an object from the window. A deputy retrieved the item, which tested positive for methamphetamine.

After stopping, deputies identified the driver as 37-year-old Matthew Glenn Fowler of Guntown. He was arrested on charges of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

A Lee County justice court judge set Fowler’s bond at $25,000, sheriff Johnson said.
