Man gets 20-year sentence for second-degree murder in Mississippi

BOONEVILLE, Miss. — Cameron Jaquavious Young, 25, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on December 18, 2025, in connection with the April 7, 2023, killing of Justin Jamal Anderson in Prentiss County.

Senior Circuit Court Judge Paul S. Funderburk sentenced Young to 20 years in prison with no parole. The sentence includes 20 years to be served, with an additional 20 years suspended, and five years of post-release supervision.

Young will serve a day-for-day sentence and is not eligible for parole, according to court records.

The Booneville Police Department investigated the case, with lead Investigator Corie Gann Robbins playing a key role. Prosecutors Joel Baldwin and Kyle Robbins handled the case for the state, with District Attorney Jason D. Herring overseeing the prosecution.
