Mississippi proclaims Walking Day, backs American Heart Association
Mississippi proclaimed tomorrow as Walking Day and said it supports the American Heart Association’s National Walking Day campaign, according to a Facebook post from the state.
The post said, “Mississippi is (walking) with you, CMS Administrator Dr. Oz!” and included the hashtag #NationalWalkingDay. It added that the state “proudly supports the American Heart Association – Mississippi and American Heart Association’s efforts to get out and get moving — there’s not a more beautiful state to do that in than ours!”
National Walking Day is an American Heart Association initiative that promotes walking and other forms of physical activity as ways to improve heart health and overall wellness. Public awareness days like this are often used by groups and governments to encourage healthy habits and community participation.
The post did not provide details about organized events or how the proclamation will be observed. CMS refers to the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
