University of Mississippi reopens Oxford campus Monday
OXFORD, Miss. — The University of Mississippi said it will reopen its Oxford campus on Monday, Feb. 9, while some operations remain adjusted as crews continue recovery work across campus.
The university said in a post on Facebook that people should avoid areas that are closed or are actively undergoing repair. Students experiencing power outages or travel challenges should communicate with their instructors, the university said. Employees who live in vulnerable areas or who are unable to return on Monday should contact their supervisors.
To support recovery work, officials asked employees to plan to return no earlier than Monday morning, Feb. 9. Students living on campus should plan to return on Sunday, Feb. 8, after 1 p.m., the university said, adding that all dining locations will be open at that time. The Department of Student Housing will provide additional guidance for students who need to arrive earlier because of flight schedules or other constraints.
Students living off campus were urged to allow time to assess their living situations and check for storm-related issues. Those who remain without power or who face travel logistics were told to notify their instructors. For assistance with storm-related challenges, the university provided a call center at 662-915-7211, open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The university said visits to campus should focus on classes, work, dining and other regular commitments while recovery continues. Regional campuses will coordinate operating hours with their host campuses, and officials urged the public to check respective campus websites and university email for updates. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
