Reeves wishes 25 students luck at Mississippi Spelling Bee
Gov. Tate Reeves said in a Facebook post that 25 students from six counties are headed to the Mississippi Spelling Bee this weekend and asked Mississippians to join him in wishing them good luck.
The state spelling bee brings together top student spellers from school and regional contests. Winners of state-level competitions frequently advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, a national academic contest that draws contestants from across the United States and internationally.
State and local leaders often highlight spelling bees as opportunities for academic achievement, community pride and student recognition. Participants typically represent a range of schools and communities, and the events can spotlight literacy and education programs in their home counties.
Reeves posted the announcement on his official Facebook page but did not provide additional details about the students or the location of the state competition. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
