Oxford School District plans Active Attack exercise next week
Oxford School District said in a Facebook post that it is partnering with local law enforcement, fire and emergency management agencies to conduct an Active Attack exercise next week.
The district posted the notice as a reminder to the community, saying the exercise will involve multiple emergency response partners. The post did not provide additional operational details.
Such exercises typically test communications, coordination and response protocols among school staff and public safety agencies, and help identify areas for improvement in emergency plans. Schools and emergency managers across the country conduct similar drills to prepare for violent incidents and other sudden threats.
Residents may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and responders near school facilities during the exercise. The district’s public reminder seeks to avoid alarm and to reinforce the importance of preparedness for students, staff and families.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
