CMSD closes schools for remainder of week over icy roads
All CMSD schools will remain closed for the remainder of this week because of continued low temperatures and icy road conditions that are not improving, the district said in a Facebook post.
The district said safety must come first and that teachers will continue providing virtual instruction each day while buildings remain closed. Officials said they will review conditions over the weekend and share a decision about next week on Sunday.
School districts typically close during hazardous weather when extreme cold and slick roads threaten student and staff safety and when transportation becomes unsafe. Closures affect in-person learning, school meals, extracurricular activities and parents’ work schedules, and many districts rely on remote instruction and meal distribution plans to maintain continuity.
The district did not provide additional operational details in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
