Young gets 20-year sentence for second-degree murder in Mississippi
BOONEVILLE, Miss. — Cameron Jaquavious Young, 25, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on Dec. 18, 2025, in connection with the April 7, 2023, killing of Justin Jamal Anderson in Prentiss County.
Senior Circuit Court Judge Paul S. Funderburk sentenced Young to 20 years in prison without the possibility of parole. The judge also suspended an additional 20-year term and imposed five years of post-release supervision.
Young will serve the sentence day for day, meaning he must serve the full term. Booneville police responded to and investigated the case.
The District Attorney’s Office credited lead investigator Corie Gann Robbins and the Booneville Police Department for their efforts. Assistant District Attorneys Joel Baldwin and Kyle Robbins prosecuted the case on behalf of the state.
Jason D. Herring, District Attorney for the First Circuit Court District, announced the sentencing.
