First State Bank adds Hurd, Skinner to Quitman branch

QUITMAN, Miss. — First State Bank has expanded its Quitman lending team with the hires of Stephanie Hurd as assistant vice president and branch manager and Lowery Skinner as consumer lender, the bank announced Tuesday.

Hurd returns to her hometown after roles at Magnolia State Bank in Heidelberg, where she served as branch manager, loan officer and loan assistant. She is a graduate of Quitman High School, holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Belhaven University and associate degrees from Pearl River Community College. “I am honored to return to my hometown and work alongside our customers,” Hurd said.

Skinner, a native of Waynesboro, earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from Mississippi State University’s College of Business and graduated from Jones College. He joined First State Bank part time in 2023 and has worked as a loan operations assistant, credit analyst and management trainee, positions the bank said prepare him to serve consumer lending needs in the Quitman market.

“Stephanie and Lowery embody the core values of First State Bank,” said Darron Dodd, executive vice president of retail banking. “Their experience and dedication will play an important role in strengthening relationships and supporting economic growth throughout Clarke County.” The Quitman branch will host an open house on March 5, 2026, at 310 S. Archusa Ave. from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.; the public is invited.
