Tyler Banks Wins 2025 Chucky Mullins Courage Award

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss senior linebacker Tyler Banks has been named the recipient of the 2025 Chucky Mullins Courage Award, announced by head coach Lane Kiffin on Thursday. Banks becomes the 35th player to receive the prestigious honor, which recognizes a player who exemplifies courage, leadership, and determination—qualities embodied by Chucky Mullins, whose career was tragically cut short by a paralysis following a 1989 tackle.

A three-year letterwinner for Ole Miss, Banks has appeared in all 39 games since his freshman year in 2022. The Blackstone, Virginia, native has contributed significantly on special teams, with 31 career tackles, including a personal-best 14 last season.

Banks expressed deep respect for the award, saying, “I didn’t grow up knowing about it, but once I got here, I understood its significance.” He added, “I’m just grateful and will do everything I can to live up to it. I’m wearing the jersey every game, home and away.”

The award, sponsored by Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, is presented annually to an upperclassman defensive player who embodies Mullins’ spirit.
