Officer-involved shooting in Meridian
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Meridian Police Department that occurred on Thursday, Feb. 1.
An officer from the Meridian Police Department was escorting a subject to a court hearing when the subject secured a weapon and shot the officer. A second Meridian police officer discharged his firearm, striking the subject. The officer and subject received non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to local hospitals. This information is preliminary and subject to change.
