Deputies report no injuries after train strikes car on Highway 49

Deputies said they responded about 11:30 a.m. March 5 to a report that a train struck a silver vehicle on Highway 49 near Coker Road.

Authorities said there were no injuries. The train had passengers aboard and the vehicle carried a single occupant. Deputies described the damage as minimal and said everyone was fine.

Train-vehicle collisions at crossings can range from minor to deadly, and even low-speed impacts can require emergency response and brief traffic or rail service adjustments. Local deputies and other first responders typically secure the scene, check for injuries and work with rail operators when passengers are involved.
