Facebook shows ‘content isn’t available’ when posts restricted or removed

A message on Facebook reading “This content isn’t available right now” appears when a post cannot be viewed because its visibility has changed or the material is gone, the platform indicates.

The notice commonly appears when the owner shares a post with a small group, alters who can see it or deletes it altogether. It can also appear if an account has been deactivated or if the content was removed for violating Facebook policies.

Facebook, which is owned by Meta Platforms Inc., provides tools that let users limit audiences for individual posts and control who can view their profile. The company also enforces community standards and can take down content it deems in violation, leaving links or embedded posts inaccessible.

For users, the notice can cause confusion when trying to verify information or view previously shared material. People who encounter the message can try logging in, requesting access from the poster or checking the poster’s profile to see if the account remains active. Facebook’s Help Center offers guidance on privacy settings and removed content.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
